Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, former chief executive officer (CEO) of K-Electric, has been appointed CEO of GO Petroleum.

“Honoured to become CEO of GO Petroleum,” said Alvi in a post on a social media platform.

“Grateful to our board and leadership for their trust. Committed to creating lasting value for Pakistan’s energy sector. Insha’Allah, onwards with purpose and resolve,” he added.

Gas & Oil Pakistan Ltd. (GO) is an oil marketing company (OMC), operating a retail network of over 1,300 fuel stations offering petrol, high-octane, diesel, and lubricants.

Alvi previously served as CEO of K-Electric, Karachi’s sole electricity provider, from June 2018 until his resignation in February 2026. He was reappointed as CEO in July 2025, effective July 30, 2025.

He has over 30 years of diversified experience in finance, financial planning, and capital restructuring and is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

In May 2025, a National Assembly (NA) committee expressed displeasure with Alvi, observing that he “seemed unfit for this important position” due to an “informal, unofficial and non-professional attitude” during a meeting.

In July 2025, the Sindh Ombudsman for the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace ordered his removal as KE CEO and imposed a fine of Rs2.5 million, alleging his involvement in a workplace harassment case.

Alvi termed the decision “deeply distressing,” stating that the findings did not reflect the truth, and announced his intention to appeal.

Alvi resigned from his position as CEO in February 2026, after 18 years with K-Electric. This decision came days after the Governor of Sindh annulled the Provincial Ombudsman’s order for his removal.
