ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed 21 terrorists in two separate incidents in Chagai and Pishin districts of Balochistan, while six personnel, including two officers and a Customs Department official, embraced martyrdom during the exchanges of fire, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incidents occurred during the night of August 31 and September 1 in Nokcha, Chagai District, and Ziarat Cross, Pishin District. The military said the terrorists belonged to what it described as Indian-sponsored proxies, Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij.

In the first incident on August 31, terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Hindustan attempted to disrupt traffic on the N-40 Quetta–Taftan Highway by establishing an illegal checkpoint for extortion.

Security forces immediately responded, triggering an intense exchange of fire in which 11 terrorists were killed. A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also recovered from them, the ISPR said.

Separately, during the night of August 31 and September 1, terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij launched a coordinated attack on the Customs House in Pishin district in an attempt to breach the facility.

Security forces repulsed the attack and killed 10 terrorists during the ensuing exchange of fire. The ISPR said fleeing terrorists were subsequently engaged and suffered further casualties.
