ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and district administration on Tuesday launched an emergency drainage and dewatering operation across Islamabad, particularly in Sector E-11, Ghouri Town and other low-lying areas, following heavy rainfall.

Special teams and dewatering machinery were deployed at underpasses, interchanges, major roads and other vulnerable locations, while drains and waterways were being cleared to ensure uninterrupted flow of rainwater.

CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Sohail Ashraf, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, visited E-11, Ghouri Town and other areas to inspect drainage, traffic management and emergency arrangements.

Ashraf directed officials to deploy all available resources, keep sensitive areas under continuous monitoring and ensure immediate drainage of accumulated water. Joint teams of CDA, MCI, Emergency and Disaster Management and the district administration remained in the field.

The administration advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from low-lying and waterlogged areas during heavy rain. Residents can report emergencies or drainage-related complaints on 1334 or 16.
