ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepen its strategic partnership with Turkiye, saying the two countries had strengthened their enduring brotherhood through the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia.

In a message congratulating Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish government and people on Victory Day, the prime minister said the agreement reflected the three countries’ shared pursuit of common security and collective deterrence.

“I extend warmest felicitations to my dear brother, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the government, and the brotherly people of the Republic of Turkiye on the joyous occasion of Victory Day,” he said.

He said August 30 commemorated the historic Turkish victory secured under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, which laid the foundations of the modern Turkish Republic.

“Pakistan joins its Turkish brothers and sisters in honouring this proud legacy of courage and national resolve,” he added.

He described the ties between Pakistan and Turkiye as ‘bonds of the heart’, forged over centuries of shared faith, history and struggle.

PM Sharif said Pakistan remained unflinching in its commitment to further strengthening its strategic partnership with Turkiye across all domains to promote the shared prosperity and security of the two countries.

“May the abiding friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkiye continue to flourish for generations to come,” he added.
