EFP says concerned at ‘discriminatory’ action against Mian Adrees
KARACHI: The Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EFP) expresses its deep concern and strong condemnation over the unwarranted, illogical, and discriminatory action taken against Mian Adrees, a renowned industrialist, respected business leader, and Board Member of the Employers’ Federation of Pakistan, Former President of FPCCI and Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mian Adrees has earned a distinguished reputation in Pakistan’s business and industrial community through his longstanding contribution to the development of industry, investment, employment generation, and economic growth. He has also served the business community in various important capacities and enjoys considerable respect and credibility among employers and stakeholders.
The blatant manner in which the matter has been brought into the public domain, without establishing the facts through a thorough and transparent inquiry and without adequately examining the details and circumstances of the matter, is a matter of serious concern. Such action can have far-reaching consequences for the reputation, dignity and credibility of an individual who has made a significant contribution to the country’s economic development.
EFP strongly believes that due process, fairness, transparency and the principle that a person is presumed innocent until proven otherwise must be respected in all circumstances.
Accountability is essential for strengthening public institutions and the rule of law; however, accountability proceedings should be conducted fairly and objectively, with due regard to the rights and reputation of the individuals concerned.
The action against Mian Adrees has not only caused serious damage to his personal and professional reputation but has also created a sense of concern and unrest within the wider business community. Such developments can undermine the confidence of investors and entrepreneurs and may create apprehension among business leaders regarding the security of their reputation and legitimate business activities.
EFP therefore urges the respective authorities to ensure that the matter is dealt with strictly in accordance with law, due process, and established principles of natural justice. EFP further requests that all relevant facts and circumstances be carefully examined before any conclusion is reached or any adverse impression is created against Mian Adrees.
The business community fully supports transparent and impartial accountability and has no objection to lawful investigation where credible grounds exist. At the same time, accountability must not compromise dignity, reputation, fairness or the confidence of the business community.
EFP stands firmly for the protection of the legitimate interests, dignity and reputation of the business community and hopes that the competent authorities will take appropriate steps to ensure that justice is done and any undue damage to the reputation of Mian Adrees is addressed.
