Noreen Niazi again meets IK

RAWALPINDI: The incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan’s sister Noreen Niazi on Tuesday met the former prime minister again following a Supreme Court (SC) order that allowed weekly meetings of Khan with his family members.

Khan has been in jail since August 5, 2023, in the Al-Qadir Trust case, but his meetings with family members, lawyers, and party leaders have been restricted since December 3, 2025, despite an Islamabad High Court (IHC) order permitting him twice-a-week meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays with his family and legal team.

Last Tuesday, August 18, Noreen Niazi was allowed to proceed to the jail and meet with Imran Khan after nearly nine months. The jail authorities again allowed her to enter the jail through Gate 5 for a meeting with Khan. A source said that Khan and his sister met in the jail’s conference room, where they discussed his health and other issues.

Khan’s other sisters, including Aleema Khanum and Dr Uzma Khanum, and his cousin Qasim Zaman, were stopped at a security checkpoint on Adiala Road and were barred from proceeding to the jail. PTI interim Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, PTI secretary general Salman Akram Raja and others were also present at the security checkpoint, where a heavy police contingent police was deployed.

Meanwhile, jail sources said that Khan also met with his wife Bushra Bibi at the admin block of the jail.

Talking to the media, Salman Akram Raja stated that Khan’s sister, Noreen Niazi, met with her brother last week following the Supreme Court’s order. He said that meetings with Khan’s other sisters, lawyers, and party leaders should also be allowed, as this is the legal right of the PTI’s founding chairman. He added that Khan’s right to meet with his legal team and party leaders must be fully restored.

To a question about the press conference held by Dr. Uzma after Khan was moved from jail to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), he said there was nothing wrong with it. He stated that the public has a right to know what happened that night when Khan was moved from jail to the hospital.”

He added that the Supreme Court only ordered PTI not to play politics over Imran Khan’s medical reports. He also noted that the objection is illogical because Khan’s medical report is not even prepared.
