Govt increases petrol price by Re0.39, diesel by Rs2.40 per litre

The government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs0.39 and Rs2.40 per litre, respectively, with effect from August 25.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division on Monday, the price of petrol, or motor spirit, has been revised upward to Rs341.98 per litre from Rs341.59.
The price of high-speed diesel has been increased to Rs370.69 per litre from Rs368.29.
The new prices will remain in effect until Tuesday, in line with the government’s ongoing practice of adjusting fuel prices based on international oil markets and other cost factors.
In the previous review on Friday, the government increased the price of petrol by Rs3.81 per litre and diesel by Rs3.59 per litre.
