SCO member states: Russian envoy for promoting specific initiatives
ISLAMABAD: Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P Khorev has called for promoting specific initiatives among Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states in the areas of finance, investment, technology, industrial cooperation, the digital economy, transportation and energy.
He expressed these views in a statement on Friday, after taking part in a meeting of Islamabad-based ambassadors of the SCO member states. The meeting was hosted by Dr Muhammad Faisal, Pakistan’s National Coordinator for the SCO.
The meeting focused on organizational matters related to Pakistan’s upcoming Chairmanship of the organization. In his remarks, Ambassador Khorev said that the SCO is among the key priorities of Russia’s foreign policy.
The ambassador wished his Pakistani colleagues every success in their upcoming SCO Chairmanship and reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to constructive cooperation.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator (DPM/FM) Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting to review Pakistan’s forthcoming high-level diplomatic engagements scheduled in the coming weeks.
The DPM/FM underscored key substantive priorities and guided the advancement of Pakistan’s diplomatic objectives through these engagements. He also reviewed the preparations and emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts for the successful conduct of these engagements. Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting.
