Security forces, in joint intelligence-based operations with police, have killed 49 terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan over the past few days, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted as part of an ongoing counterterrorism campaign targeting terrorist networks and what it described as Indian-sponsored elements, including Fitna Al Khwarij and Fitna Al Hindustan.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 12 terrorists belonging to Fitna Al Khwarij were killed during multiple high-tempo intelligence-based operations in Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai and Khyber districts.
A large quantity of explosives, IED detonating devices, weapons, ammunition and motorcycles were also recovered and destroyed during the operations, ISPR said.
In Balochistan, 37 terrorists belonging to Fitna Al Hindustan were killed in 10 intelligence-based operations carried out in Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar and Panjgur districts.
Security forces also seized and destroyed a significant quantity of weapons, explosive drums and remote detonation equipment during the operations.
ISPR said sanitisation operations were underway to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the areas, adding that security forces and law enforcement agencies remained committed to eliminating the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism.
The military said the counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace.
