Pakistan condemns Israeli attack on Syria

Published Updated

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has condemned in the strongest possible terms the unprovoked attack carried out by Israeli occupation forces on Abu al-Duhur Airbase in Idlib, Syria, the Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday.

He added, “Such provocative actions constitute a flagrant violation of international law, and have the potential to undermine regional peace and stability further.”

Pakistan expresses its unwavering solidarity with the brotherly people of Syria and reiterates its full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the peace and prosperity, of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Pakistan also calls on the international community to play its role in ending repeated violations of international law by the Israeli occupation forces, and to hold Israel accountable for its actions, which are destabilising the region.

According to reports, the attacks were a sign of extraordinary Israeli defiance against the United States, which has been trying to aid the new Syrian administration backed by Turkiye.

Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shibani demanded an end to the attacks, saying that Israel should reconsider its policy towards Syria because not only Damascus, but also Syria’s allies are involved.
