Dar reviews SCO Summit arrangements

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/ FM) chaired two important meetings separately regarding the SCO Summit to be hosted by Pakistan in 2027 and upcoming high-level international visits/ engagements.

Chairman CDA briefed the meeting on the progress of various development and infrastructure projects.

The DPM/ FM expressed satisfaction with the preparations underway and directed all relevant stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of all arrangements.

The DPM/ FM underscored that Pakistan is fully committed to successfully hosting the SCO meetings and ensuring arrangements of the highest standard. He emphasised close coordination among all concerned institutions to ensure the smooth, well-organized, and successful hosting of the SCO proceedings.

SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary Amb Amna Baloch, Interior Secretary Ahmad Raza Sarwar, Chairman CDA, National Coordinator SCO, and other senior officials from the concerned ministries attended the meeting.

Dar has also presided over a meeting to review preparations for upcoming high-level visits and engagements. He was briefed on the arrangements and various aspects of the forthcoming engagements.

The DPM/ FM emphasised the importance of close coordination and thorough preparations to ensure the successful conduct of the upcoming visits and engagements.

Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Senator Dar received the UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan, Mohamed Yahya, for a farewell call.

DPM/FM appreciated Yahya’s contributions to strengthening Pakistan-UN cooperation and acknowledged the work of the UN Country Team under his leadership. He congratulated Yahya on his appointment as Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
