LAHORE: Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra on Wednesday assured a delegation of the Travel Agents Association of Pakistan of the authority’s full support in resolving their genuine concerns, particularly those relating to Punjab Sales Tax on Services.
The delegation, during a meeting with the PRA chairman, highlighted various issues faced by travel agents and tour operators, including tax registration, return filing and other taxation-related complications.
Sipra said effective engagement between the business community and tax authorities was essential to make the tax system more effective and taxpayer-friendly. He assured the delegation that the PRA would extend all possible cooperation to address genuine concerns of the business community.
He said that, in addition to digital and online systems, awareness sessions would be organised to facilitate taxpayers and improve their understanding of tax compliance requirements.
The participants stressed the need for greater awareness about tax compliance, transparent business practices and accurate payment of taxes. The PRA chairman said facilitating and guiding service providers, including travel agents, remained one of the authority’s key priorities. The delegation also presented proposals aimed at simplifying the tax system and making compliance easier for businesses.
It was agreed to constitute a joint committee comprising representatives of the PRA and the Travel Agents Association of Pakistan to ensure continued coordination and awareness on taxation matters.
Sipra reiterated that, in line with the directions of Chief Minister Punjab, facilitating taxpayers and strengthening their trust in the tax system remained among the PRA’s top priorities.
