Noreen Niazi meets IK in Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI: After being kept incommunicado for nearly nine months, Noreen Niazi, the sister of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan, met with her brother in jail on Tuesday following the directions of the Supreme Court (SC).

Noreen Niazi, along with her other two sisters, Aleema Khan and Dr Uzma, reached the Dahgal checkpoint near Adiala Jail following SC orders, as Tuesday is the designated visitation day for Khan’s family members and legal team. Police initially stopped the three sisters at the checkpoint but later allowed only Noreen Niazi to proceed toward the jail.

In a brief talk with the media before entering the jail, she said that she would inform Khan that the SC had ordered him to be shifted to Shifa International Hospital. Noreen Niazi added that she would also inform him about the efforts made by PTI workers.

Following the meeting with Khan, which lasted for over 30 minutes, Noreen Niazi did not speak to the media. Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi held a meeting with her daughter and sister-in-law at the jail.

Talking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan said the court should also grant bail to Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. “We have been demanding for the last eight months to shift Khan to Shifa International Hospital,” she said, adding they were not doing politics over Imran Khan’s health, as they were his sisters and only concerned about his well-being.

She stated that there would be criticism if justice was not served, adding that there was nothing hidden about what the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and other courts had previously done. Khan’s sister Dr Uzma last met with her brother on December 2, 2025, and after that meeting, jail authorities had not allowed family members to see the PTI founding chairman.
