According to the latest PDMA situation report, water levels in the Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers were normal. Water flow was also being recorded in reverie areas of Dera Ghazi Khan.

Low-level flooding was reported in the Indus River at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Chashma, with flows recorded at 333,000 cusecs, 338,000 cusecs and 318,000 cusecs, respectively. Low-level flooding was also reported in Narowal at Nullah Basantar, Nullah Ak and Nullah Palkho.

The PDMA said Tarbela Dam was 100 percent full, while Mangla Dam was 70 percent full. Rainfall was likely to continue across the province until August 21 while the authority was continuously monitoring the flood and weather situation.

DG PDMA Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa said that, on the instructions of the Punjab government, flood relief camps had been established in affected areas. The camps would provide flood victims with shelter, food, clean drinking water, medical facilities and other basic necessities.

DG PDMA appealed to citizens to adopt precautionary measures in view of the prevailing weather and flood situation and avoid unnecessarily approaching rivers, canals, streams and rainwater channels for recreation or other purposes. He particularly urged parents to keep a close watch on children and strictly prevent them from bathing or entering rivers, canals, streams or floodwater.

The DG PDMA further advised citizens to follow the instructions of relevant authorities in case of an emergency and take timely precautionary measures to ensure the safety of themselves and their families.
