LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol has said the closure of an industrial unit affects not only the business concerned but also its workers, employees, suppliers and others associated with it.

He made the remarks during a visit to the Saggian Industrial Area where he met industrialists to discuss issues and hurdles affecting business activities.

The industrialists thanked the LCCI President for his efforts that led to the reopening of a factory sealed by the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA). They said the closure had disrupted industrial activities and created serious concerns about the businesses and employment of people associated with the unit.

The industrialists said Saigol had established effective communication with the relevant departments to facilitate the reopening of the factory. Saggian Industries President Muhammad Amin, Ali Shiraz, Maqsood, Manzoor, Islam, Atif, Nasir and Amir, along with other industrialists attended the meeting.

Saigol said industrial units should not be unnecessarily closed or sealed and that disputes should instead be resolved through dialogue and mutual consultation. He said the LCCI remained in continuous contact with relevant institutions to address genuine issues faced by industrialists. Whenever unnecessary hurdles were created for business activities, the chamber would effectively raise the voice of the business community, he added.

He emphasised that facilitating industry and creating a business-friendly environment were essential for economic growth, employment generation and investment. The LCCI president said the chamber’s role was not limited to highlighting industrialists’ problems but also included taking practical steps for their resolution.

He said the chamber would approach relevant authorities to address issues faced by the business community in the Saggian Industrial Area and other industrial areas of Lahore.
