Pakistan, seven other Muslim countries condemn Israel’s rejection of Gaza peace plan

Foreign ministers of eight Islamic countries, including Pakistan, on Sunday strongly condemned Israel’s rejection of the Gaza Comprehensive Plan and Palestinian statehood, warning that such a move undermines efforts to establish lasting peace in the region.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Türkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates said Israel’s rejection of the Road Map for completing the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, as endorsed by the UN Security Council Resolution 2803, and its rejection of Palestinian statehood constituted a direct repudiation of the Comprehensive Plan.

They said the move jeopardises its implementation and fundamentally undermines collective efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace.

The ministers reaffirmed the urgent need for the full and immediate implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to address the grave humanitarian situation, ensure security and stability in Gaza, facilitate reconstruction and recovery, and advance a just and lasting peace based on the Palestinian right to self-determination and statehood under international law.

They categorically rejected any attempt to deny or foreclose Palestinian statehood, including through unilateral actions.

The ministers said a just, lasting and comprehensive peace could only be achieved through implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.

“Any attempt to deny or foreclose Palestinian statehood therefore directly undermines the prospects for peace, security and stability throughout the region,” they said.

The statement noted that the Road Map had been accepted by Palestinian factions and was the outcome of extensive efforts by mediators, including Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye, the United States and the UN High Representative.

The plan envisages a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, the end of hostilities, the decommissioning of weapons alongside the withdrawal of Israeli forces, deployment of the International Stabilization Force, transfer of administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza and reconstruction of the enclave.

The ministers underscored the importance of the continued role of the Board of Peace and called on all parties to support its efforts to implement the Road Map and advance the second phase of Trump’s Comprehensive Plan.

They further called upon the Board of Peace, with active US support and engagement, to take immediate and concrete measures within its mandate to uphold the integrity of the Comprehensive Plan and prevent any party from obstructing its implementation.

The eight countries also stressed that Israel would bear direct and full responsibility for any consequences resulting from continued rejection, obstruction, delay or non-compliance, including deterioration of the situation on the ground and disruption of efforts to end the war in Gaza.
