Security forces killed seven terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij and wounded several others during an intelligence-based operation in Lajay area of Kharan district in Balochistan, Aaj News reported on Sunday citing security sources.

According to the sources, the operation was launched after intelligence reports indicated the presence of terrorists in the area. Seven terrorists were killed while several others sustained injuries during the action.

The sources said the slain terrorists were involved in various terrorist activities in Kharan and Lajay, including suicide attacks. They were also allegedly involved in extortion, kidnapping and targeted killings.

A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the terrorists’ hideouts during the operation, the sources said. Security forces also seized war materiel, two vehicles and a motorcycle.

Several terrorist hideouts were completely destroyed during the operation, according to the sources.

The operation was conducted as part of Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3, under which security forces are continuing operations across Balochistan to eliminate terrorism, the sources said.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has commended the security forces for their successful intelligence-based operation against terrorists in Kharan. He praised the professional capabilities of the security forces, the Ministry of Interior said.
