He said that if the government tried to commit any adventure or play with our protest then the movement for decreasing the petrol price could be converted into toppling of government movement.

He said that the JI staged sit-ins at 510 places last week but not at a single place any flowerpot was broken, adding that they would come peacefully and return after securing their rights.

In response to a question, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that they were giving the time of the start of the sit-ins but not of ending them, adding that it was their demand that petrol price be fixed at Rs225 while abolishing levy, and roti price be fixed at Rs10 while decreasing flour, electricity and gas prices.

He said that the vehicles of federal and provincial bureaucracy, ministers and advisers should not be bigger than 1300cc.

He said that free of cost electricity, gas, oil and other extravagant privileges should be abolished, and money collected in the form of taxes from people should be spent on people.

He said the rulers were not ready to give up their privileges, adding that Rs130 was being collected per liter of petrol as “extortion in the name of levy”.

He said that the federal government expenditures were estimated to be Rs800 billion, but “the government has spent Rs1,000 billion”.

On the occasion Deputy Chiefs of the JI, Liaqat Baloch, Mian Muhammad Aslam, Dr. Attaur Rehman, JI Acting Secretary-General Nazeer Ahmed Janjua, Deputy Secretary Azhar Iqbal Hassan, Emir of JI Lahore Ziauddin Ansari and others were also present.
