RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that the experience and guidance of ex-service men were an asset for the armed forces of Pakistan.
The Field Marshal stated this while hosting a reception in honour of Pakistan Army veterans on the occasion of Independence Day, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
According to the military’s media wing, a large number of retired officers and soldiers attended the ceremony, where the army chief highlighted the enduring contributions of veterans to the defence and stability of the country.
Field Marshal Munir paid tribute to the invaluable contributions, lifelong services and sacrifices of Pakistan army veterans in defending the country. He acknowledged their enduring role in strengthening national resilience and said the contribution of veterans remains valuable to the stability of Pakistan.
The army chief emphasised that the experience, guidance and continued engagement of veterans are a valuable institutional asset for the Pakistan army.
Field Marshal Munir said the guidance and experience of retired officers and soldiers remain particularly important as the country and its armed forces face an increasingly complex and evolving security environment.
He noted that veterans’ insight can help the institution navigate changing security conditions and emerging challenges.
The ISPR said the veterans attending the reception expressed their full confidence in the leadership of the Pakistan army.
They reaffirmed their continued support for the armed forces in confronting emerging security challenges and reiterated their determination to continue playing their role for the country.
The retired officers and soldiers also pledged to contribute towards national unity, peace, stability and prosperity, reaffirming their commitment to Pakistan and its institutions.
The reception provided an opportunity to recognise the sacrifices and lifelong contributions of former Pakistan Army personnel while bringing together veterans and the current military leadership on Independence Day.
The event also highlighted the continuing role of veterans as a source of experience, guidance and institutional support for the armed forces.
