ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China’s 75 years of diplomatic relations and their deep-rooted friendship and mutual trust were highlighted in a flag- hoisting ceremony held at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing to celebrate Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.

Charge d’Affaires Aizaz Khan hoisted the national flag at the Chancery to the tune of the national anthem, with embassy officials, members of the Pakistani community and their families, as well as representatives of Chinese media, intelligentsia and civil society attending the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Khan said Pakistan and China were commemorating 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, describing the bilateral relationship as being rooted in longstanding friendship and trust.

He also appreciated the role of the Pakistani diaspora in contributing to national development and strengthening Pakistan-China relations through greater people-to-people exchanges.

Messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out at the ceremony. The messages paid tribute to the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and stressed the importance of unity, perseverance and commitment to national ideals for building a stronger, progressive and prosperous Pakistan.

The ceremony also featured a photo exhibition depicting various aspects of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s life.
