Defence of Pakistan: Maryam pays tribute to martyrs and ghazis
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her special message on Independence Day, congratulated the nation on Pakistan’s Independence Day and expressed gratitude.
The chief minister paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, national leaders and all elders who played their role in the creation of Pakistan.
The CM also paid rich tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of the struggle for the establishment, development and defence of Pakistan. She saluted every Pakistani and the brave Pakistan armed forces for making the defence of the country invincible in the battle for truth, from the achievement of freedom to its protection, as well as every valiant soldier deployed to guard the national borders.
The chief minister felicitated teachers, students, labourers, workers, hardworking people and the entire working community on Independence Day.
The CM said that on Independence Day, all of us must fulfil our pledge to play our due role in nation-building. “We want to leave a better and safer Pakistan for future generations. If every individual lights a lamp of his or her share, the entire country will be illuminated. Sincerity and a sense of responsibility are the true manifestations of patriotism that can add glory to our beautiful homeland,” she said.
The chief minister said Independence Day was a day for the younger generation to renew its pledge to the future. “We want to see pens, books and laptops in the hands of our youth. Students studying with dedication, teachers teaching with commitment, doctors showing compassion and traders demonstrating honesty are all manifestations of true patriotism,” she added.

Moreover, Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari, in her special video message on Independence Day, extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and herself.
Azma Bokhari said that Pakistan was not achieved without sacrifice; rather, the country was won through countless sacrifices rendered by our forefathers. “The journey Pakistan has undertaken from 1947 to the present day is highly valuable and a matter of immense pride,” she said.
The Punjab Information Minister said that Pakistan was being accorded respect at every forum today. Whether the matter involved mediation, efforts to stop a war, or major international decisions, Pakistan’s name was being recognised everywhere. “Today, Pakistan stands among the world’s powerful nations,” she added.
Azma Bokhari said that on Independence Day, the nation must renew its resolve that everyone has to play their role in taking Pakistan forward. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan is destined to progress,” she said.
The Punjab Information Minister also appreciated the performance of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, saying that the entire country acknowledged her achievements. “My prayer is that the other provinces also witness development and progress like Punjab,” she added.
Concluding her message with prayers, Azma Bokhari expressed hope that the people of Pakistan would continue to move forward and prosper, and that the country would progress towards greater development, prosperity and well-being.
