KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has marked the country’s 79th Independence Day, with festivities extending from ground operations to in-flight services across its network.
According to the details, the national carrier decorated counters and offices at all major airports across Pakistan with national flags and lights, and held a best-decoration competition among its offices nationwide.
In the air, cabin crew cut independence-themed cakes with passengers during flights, distributed miniature national flags and badges, and made special Independence Day announcements.
Passengers were also served pastries decorated with the design of the Pakistani flag.
The central ceremony was held at PIA’s head office in Islamabad, where CEO Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat hoisted the national flag, which was saluted by airline personnel.
The event was attended by senior airline officials, scouts, and employees, and featured a cake-cutting ceremony accompanied by patriotic songs.
A commemorative tree was also planted on the occasion.
Flag-hoisting ceremonies and cake-cutting events were held simultaneously at PIA offices across the country.
