ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on wheat-related matters and reiterated the government decision to import 1 million tonnes of wheat to meet domestic requirements, ease price pressures and provide relief to the public.

The meeting reviewed wheat availability and requirements in view of the demands of the provinces.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for National Food Security & Research, Minister for Commerce, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Minister for Food, Sindh, Chief Secretary Punjab, Federal Secretaries of National Food Security & Research and Commerce, National Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Food, relevant federal and provincial government officials, and officials from the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP).
