10 additional judges sworn in at LHC

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum on Tuesday administered oath to 10 newly appointed additional judges of the LHC in a simple but impressive ceremony.

The new appointments were made for one year from the date of their oath.

The judges who took oath included Justice Syed Farhad Ali Shah, Justice Amjad Pervaiz, Justice Asad Ali Bajwa, Justice Ghulam Sarwar Nahing, Justice Shireen Imran, Justice Usman Ghani Rashid Cheema, Justice Munawar Dogal, Justice Amir Ajmal Malik, Justice Khalid Ibn Aziz and Justice Ajmal Khan.

In addition, Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa also took oath as a permanent judge of the LHC on completion of his probation period.

Following the induction of the new judges, 10 vacancies still remain at the LHC against the constitutionally approved strength of 60 judges.

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan had approved the name of the new judges in a meeting held on July 21 under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
