Karachi’s major development projects: Nasir reviews progress
KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah visited Shahrah-e-Bhutto, Korangi Causeway Bridge and Korangi No 5 Flyover to review the progress of ongoing development and construction projects.
Additional Chief Secretary Sindh Dr Wasim Shamshad and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion. The minister was given a detailed briefing on the progress of various projects, ongoing construction work and their completion timelines.
During his visit to Shahrah-e-Bhutto, Nasir Hussain Shah inspected the development and beautification works on roads surrounding the project and directed the authorities to expedite the pace of work. He also inspected the loop connecting Shahrah-e-Bhutto with DHA and the link road leading to Ayesha Mosque, directing officials to complete the development works from DHA to Ayesha Mosque at the earliest.
He said the link road would provide an important travel facility to citizens and stressed that its timely completion must be ensured. The minister also reviewed construction work on the Korangi No 5 Flyover and said the project had entered its final stages and would soon be opened for public use, providing significant relief to commuters in Korangi.
He also reviewed development work on the Korangi Causeway Bridge and inspected the construction progress of Road 12000, Road 13000, Road 20000 and adjoining service roads.
Nasir Hussain Shah directed the concerned officers to expedite work on major road infrastructure projects in Karachi and made it clear that unnecessary delays in the completion of development schemes would not be tolerated. He said efforts were being made to complete the projects ahead of schedule and, on the directives of the Sindh chief minister, incomplete development schemes were being completed on a priority basis. No development project would be left incomplete, he added.
The minister said that in line with the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the development process in Karachi was continuing with a focus on modern road infrastructure and improved transportation facilities for citizens. He said the completion of roads and flyovers would provide substantial relief to commuters, while major projects were underway to improve Karachi’s infrastructure. He stressed that no compromise would be made on the quality of development works.
Nasir Hussain Shah said the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government was committed to providing maximum civic facilities to the people and all available resources were being utilised to ensure the timely completion of ongoing development projects across Karachi.
