ISLAMABAD: Russia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P Khorev, has said that Moscow, in cooperation with Pakistan, is working to launch the first freight rail service along the Moscow-Faisalabad and Moscow-Karachi corridors in both directions.

In a statement issued here on Monday, he said the possibility of involving Belarus in the project was also being considered.

Due to the escalation of geopolitical tensions in the region in 2025 and early 2026, the project’s implementation has been postponed several times, the Russian Ambassador remarked.

At present, the parties are finalizing the contract for the provision of services and identifying companies in the countries along the proposed route that are interested in transporting their goods.
