Civil awards for martyrs, Ghazis approved

ISLAMABAD: The government on Saturday decided to confer civil awards on martyrs and Ghazis who demonstrated courage and determination in the line of duty.

The decision to confer civil awards on martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country and Ghazis who demonstrated courage and bravery was taken at a meeting of the special committee for gallantry awards, chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Director General (DG), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The committee approved civil awards for 78 individuals in different categories.

“Encouraging those who sacrificed their lives for the country and nation and those who demonstrated extraordinary courage is a national responsibility,” Mohsin Naqvi said.

“The country is indebted to the martyrs and Ghazis for their everlasting sacrifices. The great sacrifices of the martyrs and Ghazis are a national asset,” Naqvi said.
