MIRPUR: The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has postponed polling in seven constituencies of Poonch and Palandri districts in the third phase of general elections, citing concerns over the law and order situation.
According to an AJK Election Commission spokesperson, polling scheduled for August 10 will not be held in the seven affected constituencies, which are among the 11 constituencies in Poonch and Palandri districts.
However, polling in three constituencies of Bagh district and one constituency of Haveli district will take place on August 10 as per the previously announced schedule, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said the decision to defer polling in Poonch and Palandri was taken after considering law and order concerns, requests submitted by certain political figures and candidates, and other relevant factors.
