KARACHI: President of the United Business Group (UBG), Zubair Tufail, has expressed the hope that the agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in Makkah Mukarramah would further enhance cooperation, exchange of experience and technology in the defence sector, while creating new opportunities for joint training programmes and strengthening defence capabilities.
The UBG president said that alongside strong defence cooperation, the three countries should also further promote trade, investment, industry, energy and economic ties.
He said there was tremendous potential for economic cooperation among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, which could be utilised to promote joint ventures and investment among the private sectors of the three countries.
He also stressed the need to strengthen linkages among the business communities and regularly organise trade and investment forums.
ZubairTufail said the agreement should not be viewed as being directed against any country, but rather as a means of making a positive contribution towards the collective security, peace and stability of the Muslim Ummah.
He said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye could play an important role in promoting peace in the region and safeguarding the collective interests of the Muslim world through mutual unity, tolerance and diplomatic cooperation.
He expressed the hope that the agreement reached in Makkah Mukarramah would take relations between the three brotherly countries to new heights and further strengthen unity and solidarity among the Muslim Ummah.
He said the agreement was a source of joy, satisfaction and hope for the entire Muslim world and could contribute to promoting peace and stability in the region.
Zubair Tufail said that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye already enjoy strong historical, religious, cultural and brotherly ties, while the joint defence agreement could serve as an important means of further strengthening these relations.
He said that in the prevailing global and regional circumstances, mutual trust, cooperation and unity among Islamic countries had become more important than ever before.
Therefore, enhanced defence cooperation among the three countries was a positive and far-reaching initiative.
He said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye hold an important position in the Muslim world, and their closer cooperation could prove beneficial not only for the three countries but also for the collective interests of the entire Muslim Ummah.
