KARACHI: Chairman Hamid A Zahur Pakistan Tanner’s Association (PTA) in a letter to Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan has immediate attention to the specific matter for “Transport Strike”, which is announced to be in place shortly with indefinite period in Pakistan, which would be detrimental severely for hampering the export and import activities for timely execution and deliver of leather export shipments for embarkation.
He said that the export activities of leather sector of Pakistan, which is most value added oriented export oriented sector is already in severe clutches and facing hardships with dwindling exports in securing the export orders from the valued foreign buyers/customers in the wake of high cost of production in Pakistan, while the strike is another major obstacles for timely execution of ongoing export orders to the foreign exporters/buyers.
Which is ultimately leading cause severely to breach the commitment/LC’s already made in particular with foreign buyers/customers for the timely delivery of exports shipments to them.
In view of this peculiar nature of circumstances, we, therefore, request your goodself to please issue directives to concerned departments/ministry for adequate resolution for restoration to keep continue the smooth process of transport without any hurdles, so that export/import activities by sending timely leather export shipments would be ensured/made to foreign buyers/customers with the supreme motive to yield precious foreign exchange for the country, which is desperately required by the country.
Your prompt action in view of the gravity to the above matter will be much appreciated/anticipated for amelioration for removal of proposed announcement for “indefinite transport Strike” to avoid further damage of export activities/industries.
