Business community united behind national economic agenda
KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) and President of the Pakistan Business Forum (Sindh Region), Malik Khuda Bakhsh, has described the two-day Pakistan Economic Summit 2026 held in Islamabad as a significant initiative for the country’s economy, saying it reflected the business community’s support for the national economic agenda.
In a statement issued on Thursday, he said the summit demonstrated that the business community was united under the leadership of United Business Group (UBG) Patron-in-Chief S.M. Tanveer and remained committed to Pakistan’s economic stability, growth and prosperity.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh congratulated S.M. Tanveer on organizing the summit, saying the event brought together industrialists, businessmen, exporters, economists and policymakers from across the country on a common platform to discuss economic challenges and opportunities.
He said the summit highlighted the private sector’s commitment to contributing to national economic development.
He proposed that the Pakistan Economic Summit should become a regular feature rather than a one-time event and recommended that similar gatherings be held in all four provinces and major industrial and commercial centres to showcase regional industrial capacity, export potential, investment opportunities and economic challenges.
According to the PPDA chairman, expanding the summit to different regions would help integrate local business potential into the national economic development agenda while providing stakeholders with an opportunity to present region-specific issues and proposals.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh also expressed the view that the Pakistan Economic Summit could evolve into an important platform for discussions on economic policy, investment promotion, exports and sustainable economic development.
