Jul trade deficit widens 25.17pc to USD3.94bn YoY

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s trade deficit widened by 25.17 percent year-on-year (YoY) to USD 3.94 billion in July 2026, compared with USD 3.15 billion in July 2025, according to a summary of merchandise trade statistics released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Wednesday.

The PBS said the country’s exports stood at USD 2.939 billion in July 2026, while imports were USD 6.887 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of USD 3.948 billion. In comparison, exports totaled USD 2.683 billion and imports USD 5.837 billion in July 2025.

The PBS data revealed that Pakistan’s imports valued USD 6.887 billion witnessed a growth of 18 percent in July 2026 when compared with the imports valued at USD 5.837 billion same period of the past year.

In July 2026, the country’s exports valued at USD 2.939 billion also registered a growth of 9.54 percent against USD 2.683 billion exports of July 2025.

On a monthly basis, Pakistan’s exports registered an increase of 31.09 percent as in July 2026, reaching USD 2.939 billion against June’s exports of USD 2.242 billion. Country’s imports amounted to USD 6.887 billion in July 2026, witnessing a decline of 0.17 percent against USD 6.899 billion in June 2026. While on monthly basis Pakistan’s trade deficit reduced by 15.22 percent.
