Sharjeel orders timely completion of Yellow Line BRT project

KARACHI: The Sindh government has directed all relevant agencies to immediately remove utility-related obstacles and complete the shifting of public utility infrastructure to ensure the timely completion of the Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

The directives were issued at a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon. The meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Yellow Line Project Director Kamal Dayo and other senior officials.

The meeting reviewed the progress of the Yellow Line BRT project and decided to further accelerate construction work to meet the project’s completion schedule.

Officials informed the meeting that work on various sections of the corridor was progressing according to plan, while construction of the project’s depots was expected to be completed during the first quarter of next year.

Sharjeel directed the authorities to complete the second section of the Taj Haider Bridge at the earliest to minimise inconvenience for commuters.

He stressed that all bottlenecks affecting construction should be removed without delay and instructed the relevant departments to treat utility shifting and relocation as a top priority.

“The pace of work must be maintained and all impediments to the project should be resolved immediately through effective coordination among the concerned departments,” the minister said.

He described the Yellow Line BRT as one of Karachi’s most important mass transit projects, saying its timely completion remained a key priority of the Sindh government. He directed all stakeholders to strengthen coordination and ensure prompt decision-making so that the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
