Govt increases petrol price by Rs4.45, reduces diesel's by Rs2 per litre

The government increased the price of petrol by Rs4.45 per litre while cutting the high-speed diesel (HSD) price by Rs2 per litre, effective from Thursday, August 6.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Wednesday revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The price of Motor Spirit (petrol) was increased by Rs4.45 per litre, taking it from Rs328.56 to Rs333.01 per litre.

The price of HSD went down by Rs2 per litre, from Rs385.86 to Rs383.86 per litre.

The new prices will remain in effect until tomorrow, in line with the government’s ongoing practice of adjusting fuel prices based on international oil markets and other cost factors.

In the previous review on Tuesday, the government decreased the price of petrol by Rs3.39 per litre while cutting the HSD price by Rs4.07 per litre.
