Unusual movements: SECP empowers surveillance dept to direct listed firms to explain causes
ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has empowered the Head of Brokers & Market Surveillance Department to direct listed companies to explain causes of unusual movements in the price or volume of its traded securities at stock exchange.
Head of Brokers & Market Surveillance Department has been authorised to require listed companies to send list of persons who have access to inside information.
Head of Brokers, CMII & Market Surveillance Department can also require the futures exchange to disclose information in its possession concerning TRE certificate holder and its customers.
According to an SRO 874(I)/2026 issued by the SECP on Monday, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 10 of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Act, 1997, the Commission), hereby delegates specific powers and functions of the Commission under the administered legislation to the Commissioner and officers of the Supervision Division.
The SECP has empowered the officers of the Supervision Division to conduct enquiry or inspection into the affairs of the non-banking finance companies (NBFCs). Head of NBFC Supervision Department is empowered to require to furnish information. Divisional Head, Supervision Division would have the authority to appoint auditor and special audit of the HBFC.
Head of Brokers CMII & Market Surveillance Department would have the power to require the securities exchange to disclose information in its possession concerning TRE holder and its customer(s).
