ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) has announced decrease in the ex-depot prices of petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) for August 4, based on the recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).
As per the revised rates, petrol price has been reduced by Rs4.08 per litre from Rs336.03 to Rs331.95. The price of HSD saw a decline of Rs2.45 per litre, moving from Rs392.38 to Rs389.93.
Under the current pricing framework, Ogra updates fuel tariffs daily to reflect Singapore Platts trends in the last seven working days and currency exchange movements. Some stakeholders are still demanding to restore the revision on weekly or fortnightly basis.
Meanwhile, the petroleum levy remains unchanged at Rs80 per litre on petrol and Rs70.82 per litre on HSD. Climate Support Levy (CSL) has been maintained at Rs5 per litre. Custom Duty is set at Rs18.1 per litre on petrol and Rs 15.68 per litre on HSD.
On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, total petroleum sales increased 20 percent in July over June 2026, “supported by lower domestic petroleum prices for sometime following the decline in global oil prices amid easing geopolitical tensions,” according to Arif Habib Limited.
The petrol sales rose 12 percent MoM, while HSD volumes climbed 25 percent. Furnace oil sales also increased 89 percent over the previous month, which was attributed to higher seasonal demand for power generation during the summer months, said AHL.
