ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday paid glowing tribute to the country’s police martyrs, lauding their courage and sacrifices in safeguarding peace and security, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to further strengthen law enforcement institutions through enhanced training, modern technology and improved resources.

In his message on the occasion of Police Martyrs Day, to be observed on August 4, the president said the officers and personnel of Pakistan Police who laid down their lives in the line of duty would always be remembered for their exemplary bravery, unwavering dedication and supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.

He said the police remained on the frontline in the fight against crime, terrorism and violent extremism, demonstrating professionalism and sound tactical capabilities during targeted operations that had helped dismantle criminal and extremist networks.

The president praised the force’s steadfast commitment to protecting innocent lives, upholding the rule of law and ensuring domestic peace and security, saying their sacrifices continued to inspire the nation.

He paid special tribute to police personnel serving in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, commending their courage and decisive response during encounters with terrorists and their foreign-backed facilitators.

The president also acknowledged the patience and resilience of the families of police martyrs, describing their welfare and socio-economic support as a collective national responsibility.

Reaffirming the government’s resolve to strengthen police institutions, he said efforts would continue to improve training, introduce modern technologies and equip the force with the resources needed to perform its duties more effectively and confidently.

Paying tribute to serving police officers and personnel, including women officers, the President commended their professionalism and courage in defending the country’s peace and security despite the risks involved.

He described the police as a vital pillar of society, serving not only as guardians of law and order but also as protectors of community trust and social cohesion. He said their service provided the stability necessary for the growth of families, businesses and institutions.

The President expressed the nation’s gratitude to the police force for its selfless devotion and sacrifices, saying a secure and just environment created by their efforts remained essential for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.
