India raises windfall tax on diesel, aviation fuel

India has raised windfall taxes on exports of diesel and aviation fuel as global oil prices continue to remain volatile over the Iran conflict, according to a government order on Monday.

The export duty on petrol has been increased to 3.5 rupees ($0.0367) per litre from 2.5 rupees to ensure domestic supply effective from Monday, the order said.

The total duty on diesel exports has been raised to 25.5 rupees per litre through two tax levies from 15.5 rupees a fortnight ago.
