LAHORE: Following the rainfall in the city, Punjab Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin visited various areas to inspect the drainage arrangements and assessed the performance of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore staff on Thursday.
On this occasion, WASA Lahore Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed and the relevant director briefed him on the drainage operations. The Minister met with the personnel present in the field and inquired about operational challenges. He directed the WASA MD to ensure special monitoring in low-lying areas and to utilize all available resources.
He stated that providing immediate relief to citizens remains the Punjab government’s top priority, adding that WASA Lahore and the district administration are on high alert during the monsoon season.
He further directed authorities to expedite measures to maintain the smooth flow of traffic after rainfall and minimise public inconvenience. He added that all relevant institutions are fully mobilized to serve the public during the monsoon season.
Meanwhile, Yasin attended the Ghusl-e-Mubarak (the ceremonial washing) ceremony held at the shrine of Hazrat Pir Maki (RA). The event was attended by a large number of religious scholars, spiritual leaders, political figures, and devotees. During the ceremony, the minister paid his respects at the shrine, offered Fateha, and made special prayers for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the country and its people.
He emphasised that the teachings of the saints promote love, tolerance, brotherhood, and service to humanity. He noted that religious and spiritual centers play a crucial role in fostering tolerance, peace, and harmony within society.
By adhering to the teachings of revered saints, we can work towards eradicating hatred, extremism, and division from our communities, he added.
“The spiritual services and teachings of Hazrat Pir Maki (RA) continue to guide people today. The Punjab government is committed to improving the lives of its citizens through public service and welfare initiatives,” he stated.
