92 mills selling flour at official rate through dedicated stalls

KARACHI: The Karachi administration has stepped up measures to keep flour prices stable across the city. 92 flour mills are selling flour at the government-notified rate through dedicated sales stalls. Acting on the directives of Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, the city administration, in coordination with flour mill owners, has established ex-mill sale points where flour is being sold at the official price of Rs 125 per kilogram and 10-kilogram bags are being available for Rs 1,250.

According to the Commissioner Office, more than 161,000 bags of 10 kilograms each have been sold through the stalls over the past two weeks, which reflects strong consumer demand for flour at controlled prices.

Districtwise sales showed that 41 flour mills in Korangi sold 4,582 bags, followed by eight mills in Central District with 2,489 bags, 31 mills in Malir with 1,633 bags and seven mills in Keamari with 1,461 bags. In District East, 14 mills sold 323 bags, while one mill in District West sold 22 bags.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring the uninterrupted availability of flour at official prices and protecting consumers from price fluctuations through close coordination with the flour milling industry.
