The government increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.09 and Rs2.42 per litre, respectively, with the revised rates taking effect from Friday, July 31.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Thursday revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The price of Motor Spirit (petrol) was increased by Rs1.09 per litre, taking it from Rs335.06 to Rs336.15 per litre.

The price of HSD went up by Rs2.42 per litre, rising from Rs390.62 to Rs393.04 per litre.

The new prices will remain in effect until tomorrow, in line with the government’s ongoing practice of adjusting fuel prices based on international oil markets and other cost factors.

In the previous review on Wednesday, the government increased the price of HSD by Rs2.24 per litre while cutting the petrol price by Re0.75 per litre.
