Commissioner Faisalabad announces expansion of Children Hospital
FAISALABAD: Under the revolutionary health sector initiatives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Commissioner Faisalabad Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh has announced the expansion of Children Hospital.
He visited the hospital and assured that fast-track measures will be taken to expand the hospital from 314 to 450 beds.
He reiterated his commitment to equip the hospital with state-of-the-art medical facilities and said that the matter of providing the required doctors to the hospital will also be taken up with higher authorities. He appreciated the measures taken for the treatment of sick children and provision of medicines, and said that the management system of Children Hospital will be implemented in other hospitals of the Division as well.
The Commissioner visited different wards of the hospital, inquired about the children under treatment, and asked parents about the arrangements. The parents expressed satisfaction with the treatment facilities at the hospital. The Commissioner also visited the dialysis unit, checked the arrangements, inspected the availability of medicines in the medicine store, and reviewed the cleanliness arrangements. He said that making the Division’s hospitals complaint-free in terms of provision of treatment is a top priority.
Earlier an important meeting of the District Industrial Relocation Committee was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Faisalabad Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh.
DG FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhry, Deputy Director Environmental Protection Agency Usman Azhar, Director Labor Welfare Rai Yasir, Assistant Commissioner General Atiya Inayat and DO Industries Muhammad Irfan attended the meeting.
The Commissioner took a briefing on the progress made so far regarding industrial relocation. He decided to re-evaluate industries in urban areas that are causing air pollution and discharging chemical-laden wastewater. He directed the Environmental Protection Agency, Labor and Industries departments to submit a report. He said that proper mapping should be done for the phased relocation of industries declared hazardous to human health. In this regard, the relevant departments should prepare complete data and a map of polluting industries. He stated that protecting citizens’ health and the environment is the top priority, and effective action should be taken against industries declared hazardous. He also called another meeting after 15 days to review progress on the Industry Relocation Program.
Meanwhile, a review meeting on the progress of the Model Village Project (Misali Gao) was also held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Faisalabad. Following the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, it was decided to expedite implementation of 35 Model Village projects in Faisalabad Division.
The Commissioner made it clear that no delay in projects will be tolerated and there will be no compromise on transparency. He assigned the task of visiting Model Villages to MO I&S and directed them to visit villages in their respective districts, check ongoing measures, and submit details.
The meeting was informed that 23 model villages are being developed in District Faisalabad, 4 in Toba Tek Singh, 2 in Jhang, and 6 in District Chiniot.
