LAHORE: The Lahore Arts Council, Alhamra, once again transformed culture into a powerful bridge of unity as it warmly welcomed a delegation of more than 150 young participants from Balochistan.
More than a ceremonial visit, the gathering became a celebration of Pakistan’s shared identity, where artistic expression, music, and heartfelt hospitality brought together young people from different regions in an atmosphere of mutual respect, friendship, and national harmony.
Held under the vision of the Executive Director, Lahore Arts Council, Alhamra, Muhammad Nawaz Gondal, the programme reflected Alhamra’s enduring mission of bringing Pakistan’s diverse cultural traditions closer together by creating meaningful experiences that connect people beyond geographical boundaries.
Upon arrival, the delegation received a warm welcome from Deputy Director Administration Syed Umair Hassan and other Alhamra officials, whose gracious hospitality immediately made the visitors feel at home.
The evening opened with an instrumental rendition of the National Anthem, setting a tone of pride, dignity, and togetherness. Guests were then introduced to Alhamra’s remarkable artistic journey through a specially produced documentary highlighting the institution’s decades-long contribution to arts education, cultural preservation, and creative excellence.
The celebrations continued with an inspiring musical showcase featuring flute, guitar, folk melodies, and patriotic compositions that reflected the richness and diversity of Pakistan’s cultural landscape. Acclaimed performers Naushad Khan, Zohaib Khan, Abdul Wahab, Sajjad Tariq, Ustad Chand Khan, and Abdul Rauf captivated the audience with performances that filled the auditorium with energy and emotion.
At the same time, the elegant hosting by Naveen Rooma, In-Charge of the Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts, added warmth and continuity to the memorable evening.
As music echoed through the auditorium, provincial identities gave way to a shared national spirit. Young visitors from Balochistan enthusiastically joined the celebrations, responding with applause, traditional dances, and genuine admiration for the performances.
The evening became a vivid reminder that while Pakistan’s cultural expressions are wonderfully diverse, they are united by a common heritage that continues to inspire and connect its people.
Members of the delegation expressed deep appreciation for Alhamra’s vibrant cultural environment, outstanding arrangements, and artistic programmes, describing the institution as a living symbol of Pakistan’s cultural identity. Many participants shared that they would return home carrying not only photographs of Lahore but also unforgettable memories of friendship, respect, and the warmth that defined their experience at Alhamra.
