ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari has paid tribute to President Asif Ali Zardari on his birthday, describing him as a “Guide of Democracy” for his role in ensuring the continuity of Pakistan’s parliamentary democratic system.

In a statement, Bukhari extended birthday greetings to President Zardari, as well as PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, and party workers across the country.

He said President Zardari, who popularized the slogan “Pakistan Khappay” (Pakistan Needs), is a symbol of patriotism and was constitutionally elected as President by members of the National Assembly, the Senate, and the Provincial Assemblies.

Bukhari said both of Zardari’s presidential terms have been marked by the protection of the constitution and democratic institutions. He credited the President with voluntarily transferring key presidential powers to parliament, strengthening Pakistan’s parliamentary democracy.

He further said the Presidency has become a center for upholding constitutional supremacy, democracy, and the parliamentary system under Zardari’s leadership. According to Bukhari, Zardari’s policy of maintaining cordial relations across the political spectrum serves as an example of political maturity.

Highlighting Zardari’s approach to politics, Bukhari said the President has consistently promoted tolerance, patience, and reconciliation instead of turning political differences into personal hostility. He described the consensus-based passage of the 18th Constitutional Amendment through dialogue as one of Zardari’s landmark achievements.

He maintained that Zardari’s politics of reconciliation has helped ensure the continuity of Pakistan’s democratic system and described the President as a guarantor of democratic stability. Bukhari concluded by saying that President Zardari’s wisdom, political insight, and foresight are widely acknowledged.
