KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel InamMemon, while reacting to a statement of Mian Nawaz Sharif, has accused the PML-N leader of “ridiculing the people of Sindh and Kashmir”.
“This behavior of the former prime minister is not only frivolous but also ridiculous,” alleged the provincial minister.
He said that Nawaz Sharif’s statement “has hurt the sentiments of millions of Pakistanis”.
The minister said that using the name of any city or district “in a disrespectful manner” was an unfortunate thing.
He said that every city of Sindh was equally respectable.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said that though Nawaz Sharif also said in his speech that “there should be no bitterness”, yet his own words had been causing political bitterness and unnecessary division.
National leaders should avoid such statements that created a sense of deprivation or discrimination among the people of different regions, said the provincial minister.
He said that Pakistan requires national unity, mutual respect and serious political attitude.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the people of Sindh and Kashmir were proud of their land and identity, and no one had the right to subject them to political ridicule.
