The Vice Chancellor of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Dr. Afzal Haque, has received the prestigious IETI “Global Leadership Award” - a landmark moment for Pakistani academia on the world stage.
“The IETI Global Leadership Award, presented by the International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI), honours exceptional individuals for their transformative impact on academia, science, technology, industry, and international cooperation.” It’s an honour for the country when a compatriot excels internationally. It’s a recognition that Pakistan has no dearth of scholars of the highest repute. It’s also gratifying to note that this leading academic belongs to a university that has been named after Sir Syed Ahmed Khan.
In fact the university is a tribute to the illustrious figure of the subcontinent who had been the first person in the subcontinent to realize that Muslims of undivided India must pursue modern education.
The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology is a living monument of the great Aligarh Movement. “Universities have three key objectives: education and training, scientific research, and public service,” according to the vice chancellor.
