NHS signs MoU with LUMS

LAHORE: The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding with the National AI Hub at the Lahore University of Management Sciences to promote the responsible use of artificial intelligence in improving maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes across Pakistan.

The agreement outlines a framework for collaboration in research, innovation, policy engagement, and capacity building, enabling both institutions to identify national health priorities and develop AI-enabled solutions.

Federal Secretary Muhammad Aslam Ghauri represented the ministry alongside Director General Dr Shabana Saleem, while LUMS was represented by Provost Dr Tariq Jadoon and Dr Agha Ali Raza of the Computer Science Department. Gates Foundation consultant Naveed Akbar also attended.

Ghauri said the partnership would strengthen maternal and child health services through safe and effective AI use.
