ISLAMABAD: The federal capital witnessed over 47 cases of various crimes, including murder, carjacking, street crimes, robbery, and dacoity in the last week, depriving citizens of their valuables.
According to data compiled by Business Recorder, a total of 47 cases of different nature were registered at various police stations in the metropolis. These cases included 28 cases of car lifting, eight incidents of street crime [snatching of purses and mobile phones at gunpoint], 10 cases of robbery and one case of murder.
In the same period criminal gangs remained active within the jurisdictions of Khanna, Ramana, Sunbal, Sabzi Mandi and Kohsar police stations. The resident of jurisdictions of these police expressed anger over the rise in crime rate and demanded a police crackdown on the criminal gangs.
During the last week two persons associated with the dairy business were riding on a motorbike when they were intercepted by two unknown armed persons riding a Honda. The suspects held the two men at gunpoint and snatched Rs150,000 in cash and one mobile phone in the limits of the Khanna police station. Soon after the robbery the suspect fled from the scene.
In the same period three cases each of robbery and two cases of auto theft reported to Khanna police station, another one case of street crime and three case of car lifting registered at the Sabzi Mandi police station as well as robber stuck at one place and carjackers stole three bikes from the jurisdiction of the Sunbal police station.
