Award, resignation & appointment: President approves three summaries

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari approved three important summaries on the advice of the Prime Minister, including the conferment of a prestigious national award, the acceptance of a resignation, and the appointment of a new member to the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC).

According to a statement issued by the Press Wing of the President’s House on Thursday, the President approved the conferment of the Hilal-e-Pakistan on Miguel Ángel Moratinos, the United Nations Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia, in recognition of his contributions and services in promoting efforts against Islamophobia at the international level.

The President has also approved the resignation of Fazal-e-Haq Abbasi from his position as a member of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan.

In a separate decision, President Zardari approved the appointment of Zafar Hassan as a member of the FPSC.

The approvals were granted on the advice of the PM in accordance with the relevant constitutional and legal provisions, the statement added.
