Field Marshal Asim Munir visits Türkiye to strengthen defence ties
- Discusses regional security dynamics and professional military matters with General Bayraktaroğlu
Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is on an official visit to Türkiye to further strengthen the longstanding strategic and defence relationship between the two countries, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir held separate meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler and Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu to discuss matters of mutual interest, regional security and ways to enhance bilateral military cooperation.
At the Turkish General Staff Headquarters, the field marshal was presented a guard of honour before holding detailed talks with General Bayraktaroğlu on regional security dynamics and professional military matters.
During the visit, General Bayraktaroğlu conferred the Turkish Armed Forces Distinguished Service Medal on Field Marshal Munir in recognition of his services and commitment to strengthening defence cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye, the ISPR said.
The field marshal also visited the Turkish Land Forces Headquarters, where he met Commander of the Turkish Land Forces General Metin Tokel.
He also visited Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and laid a floral wreath to pay tribute to the founder of modern Türkiye.
The ISPR said the visit reflected the commitment of both countries to further deepen their multifaceted defence partnership and continue joint efforts for regional peace and stability.
